Located in the Cusco region of Peru, the attractions of Maras, Moray, and Chinchero are gems that combine history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Maras amazes with its salt mines, a labyrinth of salt wells that have been exploited since the Inca era, creating a unique visual spectacle. Moray, meanwhile, is a fascinating complex of circular terraces that functioned as an Inca agricultural experimentation center, where varieties of produce were grown at different altitudes.
Chinchero, known as the "rainbow town," enchants with its artisan market, colonial buildings on Inca foundations, and traditional textiles woven by the skilled hands of local women. Surrounded by majestic mountains and fertile valleys, these destinations offer a deep connection with Andean heritage and nature.
Enjoy an unforgettable experience exploring these sacred sites, where history and tradition intertwine in a landscape of incomparable beauty. Discover the magic of Maras, Moray, and Chinchero!
The journey to the stunning destinations of Maras, Moray, and Chinchero begins at 8:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Cusco, depending on its location. From there, we will begin our journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, enjoying a scenic drive surrounded by majestic mountains and rural Andean landscapes.
Our first stop will be Moray, an astonishing archaeological complex of circular terraces that the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory. Our professional guide will provide a detailed explanation of the importance of this site and the advanced engineering that allowed the Incas to develop diverse crop species in different microclimates.
Afterward, we will head to the picturesque town of Maras, famous for its ancient salt mines. Here, we will observe the thousands of salt pools that have been exploited since pre-Inca times and are still worked by local families. You'll have time to explore the site, take photographs, and, if you wish, purchase salt-based products, such as bath salts or gourmet condiments.
Finally, we'll visit Chinchero, a charming Andean town known for its archaeological site, colonial church, and artisan market. Here, you'll enjoy a traditional weaving demonstration led by expert artisans who preserve the ancestral techniques of spinning and dyeing wool with natural dyes.
After a day filled with history, culture, and unforgettable landscapes, we'll return to Cusco, where we're expected to arrive around 3:00 p.m., thus concluding this fascinating experience.
